Content types

The 8 content types describe the surface a string lives on. Picking the right type narrows the relevant rules — a button is judged differently than a help-article paragraph.

button_ctaButton or CTA
Button labels, calls to action, and short actionable prompts. Typically 1-5 words with an action verb.
error_messageError message
Error and failure states that tell the user something went wrong and what to do next.
confirmationConfirmation
Success messages, completion states, and system status confirmations. Often passive voice, focused on outcome.
tooltip_microcopyTooltip or microcopy
Tooltips, helper text, hints, and contextual guidance. Short but informational.
ui_labelUI label
Navigation items, section headings, tab labels, form labels, badges, and other structural text in the interface.
short_ui_copyShort UI copy
General-purpose UI text: instructions, descriptions, onboarding steps, banners, and other copy that doesn't fit a more specific type.
long_form_copyLong-form copy
Help articles, documentation, onboarding flows, FAQs, and multi-paragraph content.
headingHeading
Section headings, page titles, and card headings. Typically short (1-8 words), may use title case or sentence case depending on the design system.
